Traditional Sporting Events in Britain

In this article I write about some of the most famous British sporting events that occur on a yearly basis. My name is Steve Hill from Birmingham and I love to watch most sports especially football, tennis, snooker, horse racing and cricket.

Currently I is looking forward to the Fifa World Cup cricket and the winter Ashes tour to Australia. These are not sporting events played on an annual basis but every four years in respect of the football world cup and normally every two years for the ashes series.

Horse racing has two massive sporting events in its yearly calendar, the Grand National and the Derby. The Grand National is that my favorite out of those two as normal as it is packed full of events because it is a jumping race and there is much more of a chance for outsiders in the race. There is usually 40 horse racing itself which makes it an exciting race and watch. The race takes place at Aintree which is situated in Liverpool.

The Derby is also famous worldwide and it is a flat race. This race which was run to failure Epsom racecourse and features some of the best racehorses from around the world.

The more Cup of football was one of my favorite sporting events of the year. Some people may argue that it has lost some of its glamor in recent years but I have to disagree. This year as an example of one in so-called lesser teams in the West Ham United managed to reach the final and in my opinion very unfortunate not to win the prize. It must be said however generally one of the big four teams usually win the cup, the team is Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

The British Grand Prix formula one is another big event from the British sporting calendar. To all events that I was going to write about is probably my least favorite, but still worth a watch even for someone like myself is not exactly a motor racing fan. In years gone by drivers Nigel Mansell when such is racing this event is far more exciting. Nowadays there is no serious contenders British, it is in my eyes lost part of his appeal. I'm sure that however many other observers true motor sport will disagree with me.

The Wimbledon Tennis Championships is always of interest to someone like of myself as I love to watch not only this sport but I also love to play the odd game of tennis as well. Over the last ten years has given Tim Henman Brits something to shout about and was put on several performances Stirling under the maximum amount of pressure. This is a great shame that he can fully manage to go all the way and win the tournament. With a new kid on the block in the form of Andrew Murray, this event will continue to offer the thrills and spills for British tennis fans.

In golf there is the British Open. This tournament is not as exciting as The Ryder Cup takes place every two years but it is still very exciting to watch and there is always a live prospect of a British winner. Watch out for the young golfer Luke Donald called in later few years as I think he is because some major tournament victories.

These are just a few of many great sporting events held in Each year in Britain. I have mentioned some of my favorites, I hope you're as exciting as I tournaments.
